Diana | Marketing & Communications Manager
Since we are partly operating in a new market, this job has changed a lot over the years. We started out with some market exploration and positioning. After that, we moved on to image and branding. Making sure customers know who we are, what we do, and what products we sell.
Online, for example, we are visible on our own website and other websites, on social media, and we send out electronic newsletters. But we also operate offline. We advertise in trade magazines and exhibit at various trade fairs in the Netherlands and internationally, for which we take care of the design and organisation. And we organise trainings and webinars, given by my colleagues from Sales.
As our customer base grew, we developed a large number of service documents, such as manuals, so as to ensure that customers get comprehensive and clear information. Since the arrival of my team members, we have raised our game in terms of graphic design and no longer need the services of an advertising firm.
Given that the number of customers and activities keeps growing (fortunately!), I also work on optimising work processes a lot. These are now different protocols for different activities, so that we don’t miss anything. We now have scripts for trade fairs, for example, and protocols on how to follow up on newsletters, social media, trainings, etc.
With a growing workforce, internal communications also become increasingly important. This is also part of the marketing department’s duties.
What I like about my job is the researching and setting up of new activities. One of my most recent projects was to come up with and run a campaign around the new pivoting disc plate and the making of the www.valksolarsystems.nl and www.valkhortisystems.nl websites. Making the newsletters is also something I enjoy doing. And writing marketing plans. And designing creative communications together with my colleagues, such as campaigns and adverts. It’s hard to pick one thing!
What I love about this company are my colleagues. We work hard and have a serious drive, but there’s also a lot of humour. We go through a lot together and have sort of become like brothers and sisters in this family business. I think we can be proud of what we are pulling off together.
